We are proud to announce a feature presentation of the new documentary Retro Gaming:The Movie from Fizz Pictures.
Retro Gaming is a feature-length documentary telling the story of how video gaming evolved in the 1990’s. Using a library of lost and unseen pro-shot archive footage, shot between 1990 and 1998, the film takes you back to a golden era when new hardware formats arrived to propel gaming into a brand new age.
Retro Gaming The Movie has been directed and produced by Jonathan Beales, who released the 94 minute Call Of Duty documentary, CODumentary in 2017.
“I totally loved making CODumentary, the Call Of Duty franchise produced so many great stories over the years; the response from the fans and media across the world was amazing.
Retro Gaming is a totally different style of documentary.I’ve got 6 hours of lost and unseen archive footage which has been stored for over 20 years and making the film has brought back a lot of memories. The 1990’s were the game changer. The console wars, 3D games development & new companies entering the market - these really were very exciting times.
At PLAY Expo London I’ll be taking you back to 1990, presenting the story through a window of how things were, and what actually happened - in words, pictures and video clips. Retro Gaming The Movie is a time capsule stretching back 28 years. It’s the first gaming documentary to be set in a specific era, from 1990 to 1998” says director Jonathan Beales.
